The Best Tours and Excursions in Grenada

The best ways to see Grenada by land and sea, from the Underwater Sculpture Park to a full island tour.

You can see a lot of Grenada on your own. But a few things are better with someone who knows the island, and a couple are only possible with a boat and a bit of kit. This is where a good operator earns their fee, taking the guesswork out of where to go and making sure you get the most from your day.

This guide covers the main excursions: underwater, on the water, and into the interior. Most are available year-round, and booking ahead makes a difference, especially in the high season.

The Underwater Sculpture Park and Diving

Start under the water. The Underwater Sculpture Park at Moliniere Bay, just north of the capital, was one of the first of its kind in the world. Concrete figures sit on the sea floor, and the reef slowly grows over them. You can snorkel it from a boat trip (no certification needed) or dive it if you are certified. The sculptures and the fish are both worth the trip.

The south coast has wrecks and reefs as well. The Bianca C is a large wreck that experienced divers travel for. There are smaller reefs around the island, and local dive operators know which ones are best depending on the season and current.

Most dive operators offer certification courses if you want to try diving for the first time. Snorkeling trips are easier to book on short notice and usually run half-day or full-day with lunch.

Island Tours and Plantation Routes

A full island tour is the fastest way to understand Grenada. A driver-guide picks you up and takes you from the capital up through the nutmeg plantations, to a rum distillery or two, a waterfall stop, and a viewpoint looking out to the sister islands, all in a day. You see the working island, not just the tourist version, and a good guide will explain the history and the current state of things.

If rum and agriculture interest you, the rum trail is worth doing. River Antoine in St. Patrick still runs a waterwheel and makes rum much as it did two centuries ago, using the same methods. Belmont Estate, nearby, pairs a plantation tour of cocoa and nutmeg with a meal. The stories and the tastes are genuinely interesting, and these are real working places, not museums.

A chocolate farm tour is another good interior route. Grenada grows and processes excellent chocolate, and a farm visit includes tasting and explanations of the crop. Most are half-day trips and usually include a snack or light meal.

Sailing and Catamaran Trips

For time on the water without diving, a sailing or catamaran trip takes you down the coast to a quiet beach for swimming and snorkeling, or across to the sister islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. These trips usually include lunch and drinks, and they are popular especially in the calm season (December to April).

Fishing charters go out from the south coast marinas if you want to try deep-sea or reef fishing. Most charters include tackle and instruction, and the catch is often prepared as part of lunch after.

Booking and Logistics

The popular boat trips (Sculpture Park, sailing trips, island tours) fill up in the high season from December to April, so book a few days ahead rather than the morning of. Most operators have early-morning starts (7 or 8 AM) to avoid the afternoon wind and heat, so plan accordingly.

Most trips include lunch and water, but bring reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and a light cover-up if you plan to be in the sun for hours. The sun at sea is stronger than you expect.

The operators below run these trips well and safely. Every one is on Island Link, so you can see what they offer, check availability, and book direct.

Combine an excursion with waterfalls and hikes for a full day of variety, or pair it with a beach afternoon. See the best beaches for calm-water options near the capital.
